Layer upon layer of carefully constructed kimonos adorn Lindsey Wixon in Antwerp graduate Freya Dalsjø’s newly released fashion film for her SS14 collection named Windows. On speaking about this collection Dalsjø mentioned that;
“I am inspired by the light feeling of putting on a bathrobe and flip-flops in the morning. Moreover, minimalist Japanese architecture, which I think has a special ability to cut straight to the bone, inspires me. I wanted to give this collection a naked, vital and optimistic look that simultaneously allows for a sense of fragility.”
The use of the name Windows aims to understand and reconfigure different ways we look at these garments and the view points that they create. Highly architectural in its design and inspiration the use of squares and layering only contribute to the preciseness that the kimono silhouette already epitomizes.
