1. Daniel’s arm

Today, I met Daniel Rhatigan at the St Bride Library DIY Design conference. While he was talking to Jackson about the Risograph, I couldn’t miss his silkscreeny tatoo and that brought us to discuss about his really nice typeface Sodachrome, which remind me somehow of Pierre Di Scullio’s Minimum in its bicolor version.

    Sodachrome – initial ideas
The sodabudi ethos is the celebration of quirks and imperfections that are part of hand-crafted production. We wanted to develop a typeface that would benefit from these surprises, especially with the inprecise nature of screenprinting.
We liked the idea of creating a new chromatic typeface – consisting of two coloured shapes overprinting to create a complete character. This developed into overlaying two separate quirky shapes to create the illusion of a sans serif in the middle and a chunky serif on the outside.

  2. Talking to the lord of pain

Overcoming gravity, in your films that also means destroying the barriers between fact and fiction. You have often used spoken of ecstatic truth.

That is nothing but a bare concept. But in both feature and documentary films it is possible to have moments when you turn your back on the purely factual. Because fact does not constitute truth per se. Generally facts have nothing lighting them up inside. I always say that truth, a certain deeper layer of truth, can only be reached by stylisation and staging and invention.

I am a long-time (life-time?) fan of Lydia Lunch’s work, it is like a powerful shot of inspiration, strength and confidence.
In every form of expression she uses – music, spoken word, film, photography, writing, etc.– all is pure honesty and passion.

So having her performing in Geneva (with Philippe Petit at electron festival) was a wonderful opportunity to finally meet her in person.

It’s the boys of clap.ch doing their interview, i was just filming.
(Sorry about the abrupt beginning of the video, the question was basically- is she feminist..)

An icon, a mirror, a witch, a sex symbol, a killer, a voice for all the loners, a poet of marginality… however you eventually manage to define Lydia Lunch, she already escaped somewhere else (and Sang Bleu can only relate to this very well).

I’ve been thinking for quite some time now and after discussing with Maxime about it, here is my attempt to give you a few glimpses of what took my attention lately regarding body and technology.
