When I have a project I’m working on, I’ll basically leave my place before noon and, like a stray Dog circling ( or a Cat- or sometimes like an insect) I’ll go from alley to alley, resurface, and then enter another alley. And I’d just wander…

Then, after nightfall I’ll come home and take a shower. And then, go out again. I’ll have a drink somewhere in Shinjuku and stroll around and take photos. I’ll hit another bar and have another drink…hit the streets again: thats my method.  The Red Light District is “sexual”; the women are “sexual”, but its not only women. The city itself is “sexual”.

I guess I want to say that photography for me, isnt the most charming, unbearably fun thing I could do, but at the same time I cant help but find it, a medium and a habit that is…quite seductive”

Daido Moriyama-  An Artist At Work

French Photographer Emmanuelle Tricoire will be exhibiting her latest project on the 13th of April, entitled: XIII. Well known for her range of subject matter, but its consistent beauty and chiaroscuro use, she explores a re-interpretation of Tarot Cards through this current body of work. The work will include images that transpose symbolism to human subjects & still life as well as drawing focus on card number XIII: her first tarot card reading. So far she has worked on The Moon, The Death card, The Hermit, The Devil, The Empress, The Emperor, The Star, The Hanged man, and The Bateleur card. 

In addition to revealing her first reading, she will be announcing the launch of her newsletter- “Lettre à L’Imperatrice”. 

The exhibition is realised in collaboration with the artist Marilou Chabert.

Study ii for my final project which shall be exhibited on the 18th June at the Frameless Gallery, Clerkenwell- Farringdon.

The project itself, is exploring the relationship between the night, and female melancholic dispositions.

The incredible photographs by Diane Arbus are about to reside in the Fotomuseum in Zurich until the end of May. Two hundred photographs will be on display showing Arbus’s world of couples, children, carnival performers, nudists, middle-class families, transvestites, zealots, eccentrics, and celebrities. Arbus’s spectacular ability to showcase a total honesty in her subjects found around New York still remain unbeatable in originality, as well as existing as a piece of amazing 20th century American history.

Alix Lambert’s new exhibition is opening today at Real Art Ways in Hartford, Connecticut. Containing photography, drawing, sculpture, and film, as well as original research, the author of the incredible Russian Prison Tattoos aims her various finds at the uneasy city of Hartford in Connecticut.

Exhibited are a cross range of pieces which are almost unclassifiable as either art, or sociological found pieces. Russian criminals hand made playing cards are shown alongside sketches from courtrooms. This exhibition shows the mind of criminality in the most intriguing way.
