  3. PARIS

Last thursday was the launch party of the first special edition of Sang Bleu. Publioshed in collaboration with the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The book launch was a nice succès. Everyone seemed to like the result (so do I!).

The rest of the week was dedicated to the planning of SB which is going to be pretty amazing, I think, and enjoying fashion week with Lotta Volkova aka Lotta Skeletrix and Alban Adam, guest editors of SBIII. Fashion week was pretty fun although a bit disappointing fashion-wise. I had the pleasure to (finally) meet lots of very interesting people such as Diane Pernet from A Shaded View On Fashion, Jason Farrer, Marcelo Burlon from Rodeo Magazine and his lovely friend Marchi Marchell, Samuel from Encens Magazine, the editors of Dong Magazine, SOLO from the oldschool french hardcore rap group ASSASSIN, the djs of Dirty Laurent Fétis the famous french graphic designer, even bumped into Pharell WIlliams and Kanye West at the Vuitton show and so on and so on… Images to come later this week as I sort my digitaly pix and process the rolls…

Here are a few images of tattooed people I met on this occasion. (Tattoos by Tribal Act, Boucherie Moderne, home-made, etc.)

Recently someone told me they thought everyone on this blog looked pretty miserable. I’m hoping this will make up for it. Top is Natalia. Below they remained anonymous. I think he’s only smiling because I agreed to buy him a beer in exchange for his photograph.

I like big tattoos, I like small tattoos. Never mind the size, it’s all about the fitting. Like a ring or a suite, you know. Tattoos can, just by themselves, make you look like a walking god or a miserable creep. (Obviously, most won’t do either, but will just emprove or degrade your appearance a bit.)

Here is what I consider a good example of the former: Senta’s unique, microscopic but exquisite “clin d’oeuil” to Warhol.

  15. today i met fergus

    by Maxime Buechi

As I was about to try and blag my way inside Art Unlimited in Basel, Switzerland, from afar, I saw a geezer who looked familiar. Cryptic handmade tattoos, long hair, svelte silhouette. As I took a few steps towards him I realized this probably was Fergus, this mysterious guy I had received a couple of pictures of in for SBII. I had to figure this out. With the nicest smile Fergus confirmed he indeed was… Fergus.
What an amazing and pleasant surprise. Not only does he have one of the most interesting tattoo collection I’ve had the pleasure to see, but he’s the nicest person ever.

Tomorrow, we will meet at the Patty Smith signing then have a little interview for SB III. Clare Hilland will take some portraits of him to go with it. Today was a good day.
