Two human skeletons with a huge blood vasculature are the main attractions for the visitors in the San Severo Chapel (De Sanctis street,19- inside the ancient spanish quarter of Naples). Nowaday nobody knows the author of this anatomical masterpiece: the San Severo guardian keeps in his mind and reports an ancient tail about the alchemy done by Raimondo de Sangro, the San Severo building’s owner. Three century ago he injected some unknown substance in two persons died accidentally which petrified all their veins, arteries and capillaries as well as several organs.

The set contains nine pieces. They are all of the variations within the scope of the first premise. The first variation is a square within a square. The other variations follow: a cube within a square, a square within a cube, an outer form raised to the height of the inner cube, the inner cube raised to the height of the outer, larger cube, a cube within a cube and all crossmatching of these forms. The first set contains nine pieces. These pieces are laid out on a grid. The grid equalizes the spacing and makes all of the pieces and spaces between of equal importance. The individual pieces are arranged in three rows of three forms each. In each row there are three different parts and three parts that are the same. The inner forms of one row of three are read in sequence as are the outer forms. The possible permutations of these rows are: 123, 456, 789, 147, 258, 369, 159, 357.

The measurements for the large set are:
    1. Inside 28″ x 28″
    Outside 81″ x 81″

    4. Inside 28″ x 28″
    Outside 81″ x 81″ x 28″

    5. Inside 28″ x 28″
    Outside 81″ x 81″ x 81″
    2. Inside 28″ x 28″ x 28″
    Outside 81″ x 81″

    5. Inside 28″ x 28″ x 28″
    Outside 81″ x 81″ x 28″

    8. Inside 28″ x 28″ x 28″
    Outside 81″ x 81″ x 81″
    3. Inside 28″ x 28″81″
    Outside 81″ x 81″

    6. Inside 28″ x 28″ x 81″
    Outside 81″ x 81″ x 28″

    9. Inside 28″ x 28″ x 81″
    Outside 81″ x 81″ x 81″

For the small set substitute 13-3/8″ for 81″ and 4-5/8″ for 28″.

  4. a hat and a tattoo

Yesterday, paying a little visit to Mr Hooper I had the pleasure to find there as well my old friend Frank Carter (some of you saw him on the cover of SB 0!). When I met him, he was “just” a tattooer at Frith Street London, but he since became a superstar singer for a band called the Gallows. More than for his music that I must admit not being my “cup of tea”, I always had a big respect for Frank’s extremely good taste in tattooing. The ones he makes and the one he gets. On his head, Frank has an amazing snake by Ian Flower.

  5. traveling mic’s calendar

Our friend, contributor and legendary tattoo-documentarist Traveling Mic has finally released his first photographic calendar. If you are interested, get in touch with us.

“The title page shows a devotee of the Ramanami sect, of whom only a few dozen remain living their secretive and pious life in the very centre of India.
The man depicted has never seen a white person before, but is visibly not too impressed by my presence, showing the balance and confidence his faith is giving him.
His fair skin and piercing blue eyes make the history of these people from the heart of South Asia even more mysterious. “
