C L U S T E R S : 7—EVEN SILENCE HAS A SHAPE
Sept 29th – Oct 3rd, 2010
B R O O K L Y N
Center For Performance Research
361, Manhattan Avenue
Presented in association with the Center for Performance Research, “CLUSTER 7–Even Silence has a Shape” is an experimental project curated by Jeanne-Salomé Rochat and Alusia Slowinski and is made up of punctual situations that will emit a declension of signs, during five consecutive days in New York City, at Center for Performance Research, NP Contemporary Art Center and Silvershed. Those signs, visual, verbal and spatial, are gravitationally bound to a core problem of perceiving, interpretating and translating languages, especially when produced under different contextual circumstances such as history, discipline or social factors: How is it possible to translate, to stress reception of a work, especially when the embedded specificity of a community is itself undergoing constant transformation? In such cases, what can be properly «realized»?
Punctually, circumcised interventions will invest the spaces, inscribing, exhibiting, performing or commenting sections of works that most of the time happened, are happening or will happen elsewhere.
To what extent can we engage the audience today? How translatable, potentially transcendable, and memorable are the boundaries of the statements that are actually exhibited?

C L U S T E R S : 4—THE WAY THINGS WAIT
B R U S S E L S
MAPP
Rue Léon Lepage, 5April 23rd, 2010, at 8pm
a proposition by Jeanne-Salomé Rochat
performed by Fabian Barba, Franziska Aigner, Tuur Marinus, Gabriel Schenker and Marisa Cabal. As soon as the given constellation of bodies on stage gets off-balance, this very opening motion continues passing on throughout the entire length of the performance. One body propels the next, impulse after impulse, accident after accident. The Way Things Wait pictures both a relentless catastrophe and a complexly designed machinery in which the forces of nature are compelled to do the work.
The piece exploits the productivity of self-imposed constraints, triggering the fabrication of surprising connections and new combinations. Choreography turns into step-by-step problem solving, when each constellation of bodies conditions the possibilities for the next movement.

http://sangbleu.com/music/sang_bleu-finally_winter_again.zipThe blank page and the unmarked skin are embryos of possibility – pre-utopian surfaces that offer possibility in pure, touchable form. The two surfaces collide in Sang Bleu’s “Reading Room”, an exhibition mapping the idiosyncratic influences that shape the magazine. Culling 100 books and magazines that have been crucial to the Sang Bleu project, then modifying their first 100 pages with a photocopier, Sang Bleu conjures a material territory between text, image, and flesh – Trasher, Histoire d’O, The Shape of Time, Monkey Subdues the White-bone Demon, L’oiseau de l’arbre à pluie, Erotica and 94 other titles all informing its tactile universe.
What Sang Bleu presents is not a collection of consumable images or ready-made tattoos, but possibilities in filling out blank space. It’s an inversion of Via Negativa – a Via Positiva, in which signs and meanings transcend the graphic and the decorative, offering instead POTENTIALS.
